For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. - John 6:55-56

Artwork Details:

This painting was inspired by the Bible verse John 6:55-56.

Using a metaphor, Jesus speaks a hard truth in John 6:55. Jesus was trying to inform his followers that we are given true sustainability and eternal life through him (the bread of life).

Though his followers did not fully understand at the time, Jesus was spiritually speaking of what was to come:  1. his death on the cross 2. the communion that we would later take in his name and in remembrance of the sacrifice he made on the cross so we can be forgiven of our sins and have eternal life.

The bread (symbolizes the body of Christ). The wine (symbolizes the blood of Christ).

To live/ abide in Christ is to fully believe in him and accept that he is the way to spiritual life, not the perishable things we look to sustain us.

May this work of art serve as a reminder of the bread of life, Jesus Christ who paid the wages of sin (death) so we may have eternal life.
